Diabetes Golf Classic Fundraiser

The River City Cosmopolitan Club’s Diabetes Golf Classic is the club’s major fundraiser each year. The club held its first golf tournament in 1996, and the 2008 tournament marked the thirteenth anniversary of the event. The tournament is held each year on the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend. Beginning in 2003, the tournament was moved to the Alvamar Public Golf Course in Lawrence, following a seven-year run at the Lake Shawnee Golf Course in Topeka.

The River City Club has raised over $130,000 during the thirteen years of the golf tournament, with all the proceeds donated to help fund both local and Cosmopolitan International diabetes related projects. The success of the River City Cosmopolitan Club’s Diabetes Golf Classic is made possible by the great support we receive from our tournament sponsors and participants, as well as the dedicated work of club members who spend several months each year organizing and planning the event.
